It breaks my heart when passionate, talented Studio Owners like you have to close their doors.
Because it doesn’t have to happen.
It breaks my heart when passionate, talented Studio Owners like you have to close their doors.
Because it doesn’t have to happen.
I’m the founder of The Dance Studio Owners Association and I’ve been in your shoes.
You love dance. You love teaching. You love your students. But nobody taught you how to actually make a living out of it – how to be an accountant, a salesperson, a marketing guru, a collection agency, a manager, a secretary, and a mentor.
But that all changes today.
You deserve to do what you love… what drives you… what fills your soul. And more than that — your students, your community deserve what you have to give. And all that other stuff doesn’t have to get in the way of your passion anymore.
“This is supposed to be my passion… what I’m meant to do… why is it so hard?”
I’ve been there. When I owned my own studio I was wearing all of the hats: Administrative Assistant, Accountant, Marketing Manager, Office Manager, Artistic Director, Costume Coordinator, Competition Manager and on and on and on…
If you’re anything like I was, you’re doing it all but you don’t have the bank balance that matches the amount of hours you’re putting in. You’re tired of your business being called a “hobby” or a “pet project” by your family. It seems that everyone is holding their breath (and some days even you are) just waiting for the crisis that will send the whole operation crashing down.
Your personal life is taking a back seat to all of the tasks that need to be accomplished on a daily basis. You’ve lost all sense of BALANCE and the studio is starting to consume you.
Would it make you feel better if I told you that you’re not alone? Probably not — you’ve seen the comments and complaints from other owners on forums before.
What WILL make you feel better is finding the solution. Getting off the hamster wheel and finally building the studio you’ve dreamed of.
We can be that solution. I’ve worked with hundreds of Dance Studio Owners over the last 7 years helping them transform their business. I’ve shown them that there IS a light at the end of the tunnel and it’s not an oncoming train.
But I’ll warn you… you have to make some changes.
To put it simply, what you’ve been doing in the past has led you to where you are today. Of course, that’s not your fault.
Rarely in this industry do Studio Owners get any type of training or preparation for the monumental task of opening their own studio. We’re left to figure it out on our own through seemingly endless trial and error.
I’m here to tell you, that the pain of messing up… of making no money… of feeling burnt out… of wondering how much longer you can hack it… is completely unnecessary.
You need to take a PROVEN NEW PATH!
Take my word for it…you do NOT need to take on every role in your studio. You don’t need to answer parent enquiries 24/7. You don’t need to burn the midnight oil sending out invoices. You CERTAINLY don’t need to be forced to make a choice between family and your studio!
There are a lot of studios out there. Unfortunately, too many of these owners stay in the “hobby” phase and wind up either burning out or giving up before they have the opportunity to see their business soar.
I’ve worked in this universe for over 13 years now and I’ve concluded that those who never reach that point of success are those that do not commit to taking regular action. They don’t commit to mastering the ART of running a business, they don’t have access to ongoing education, and they haven’t found a mentor or like-minded peers to get advice from. In short, they avoid all of the important things that are required to move a dance studio forward.
Yep… that’s a fair question. Who is this Clint guy and what makes him such an expert?
There’s no easy or short answer – but an excellent question.
I was brought up by a single mother in public housing one hour out of Sydney, Australia. She worked her butt off to give me everything I could have ever wanted growing up. I still remember the day I went home from school after being bullied (I had learning difficulties and all I wanted to do was sing and dance) and I was upset. She told me that if dancing and singing makes me happy than that’s what I should continue doing. She said to me “Clint, there’s only one thing I want for you in your life and that’s for you to be happy!”
From that point forward I strived to be happy each and every day and I knew from an early age that I wanted to design my own life. I’m thrilled to say that I’m now living a life designed by me.
In short, dance changed my life.
I started dancing at the age of 9 in jazz then moved onto tap, ballet and hip hop. Then, in an odd turn of events (ask me the full story sometime), I started a dance studio with a friend at the age of 16 when my old teacher sold her studio. Parents came to me asking if I could teach their children as I’d been a student teacher since I was 14. A dance friend and I decided to do it so we opened up in a small studio located at a tiny community hall with 30 students. This was my first taste at running a business. Needless to say, I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
I loved dancing and teaching so of course it made sense for me to open a dance studio.
I didn’t realize how different it would be actually running a business.
After making a truck load of mistakes those first few years that cost hours and hours of time, late nights, breakdowns (a few bathroom floor moments) and money, I finally saw a light at the end of the tunnel after one conversation with the person who became my first business mentor. That conversation, and the time I spent with them learning and embracing what it took to run a business, completely changed my life and business.
Fast-forward 5 years and the studio was operating 6 days a week with a few hundred students with our classes at capacity. We had built a booming business and I was only 21. I sold my half of the studio to my business partner and started working as an agent at the top celebrity agency in Australia managing some of the biggest names in television and media.
I had no idea how dealing with the dance mums/moms back when I had the studio would help when I was dealing with high profile celebrities! Over the five years I was at the agency I was responsible for pitching ideas and securing commercial endorsements, licensing, publishing, television, radio and speaking deals for my stable of high-profile clients.
During this time I also created DanceLife, Australia’s largest online community for dancers and performers. Over the four years running DanceLife it became Australia’s go to destination for all things dance. It became an online resource for dancers, a large national dance competition (so I fully understand the competition space) and a learn to dance program that was placed in schools throughout the country. I sold this business after 4 years to move on to be the touring manager for the Tony award winning musical Jersey Boys that had me travelling internationally as I managed a team of 56 people.
After my time working at the agency, working on Jersey Boys and running my businesses I took some time out for me.
During my break I had a call from a Dance Studio Owner who wanted my help.
She was working a crazy amount of hours each week, never seeing her husband or children, and she felt like she couldn’t give her parents and students any! The worst part…the bank balance was emptying faster than she planned.
After working with her for a few months to turn the studio around I started getting calls from other Studio Owners in Australia and then the USA, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. For me, it didn’t feel like work. I was working with people I liked, in places I liked, doing what I loved more than anything.
I knew there was more I could do.
I wanted to share my knowledge with more Studio Owners on how to design their own life and create a thriving profitable studio. That’s when I founded the Dance Studio Owners Association and Studio Success Formula – the business growth online program for Dance Studio Owners.
Today, I’m often asked by Dance Studio Owners what makes a Dance Studio Owner successful? What makes them become the ones who run a thriving studio business?
I’ve boiled it down to a few key differences.
The truth is that you don’t HAVE to wear every hat in your business. But often, we do. For a number of reasons — we think we can’t afford help, we don’t know who to trust, we think we can do it better than anyone else. But every minute you spend on a task that someone else could be doing is a minute you could be spending doing what truly only you as the owner can do… building your business and planning the future. And it’s another minute you’re not doing what you LOVE to do… working with your students, talking to new parents, and the other things that drove you to open a studio in the first place.
Many Studio Owners believe that they don’t have the budget or the time to invest in their continuing education — learning about business, keeping up to date on the industry, taking classes. I’m telling you that you can’t afford NOT to keep learning and growing as a dancer, as a professional, and now, as a business owner. Every penny I’ve spent on education has come back multiplied. Education is an investment, not an expense.
Dance Studio Owners who are really living the life they want have committed to take regular action. And no, this doesn’t mean being “on” all the time. It’s about replacing all the ineffective tasks in your full cup and replacing them with only a couple of effective things that will increase your reach and revenue in your business. Then doing what works again, and again, and again.
Like education, it’s easy to look at staff as an expense you can’t afford right now. But the right staff frees you up to focus on growth. I can show you how to hire the right way so the people you bring on board means more revenue, not less. And most importantly, put an end to the overwhelm and burn-out so that you love what you do all over again.
If you read my story above, you’ll notice that a huge turning point for me was finding a mentor… someone who had already walked the path I was on. Someone who had the success that I wanted in my business. This single action allowed me to short cut years of pain and struggle and many thousands of dollars in avoidable mistakes.
I’m not talking about just commiserating about difficult parents on a facebook group… I’m talking about real, actionable advice. Solutions to your unique and specific problems. All in a judgement-free, empathetic environment. A wisdom circle of people who aren’t just business owners, but studio owners like you… and successful ones. Imagine the power in that type of support system.
Members of the Dance Studio Owners Association are a tribe of passionate Dance Studio Owners from across the globe who each want to take their studio to new levels.
I want to make one thing clear, this Association isn’t for everyone. Before you read on, Dance Studio Owners Association isn’t for you if:
If you are any of the following, the Dance Studio Owners Association is specifically engineered for you.
I help Dance Studio Owners like you every day and I can honestly say that I don’t believe there is any other group out there that can help you the way our Association can through our tribe of like-minded Studio Owners plus the resources, online masterclasses, live events and of course my support and guidance (see below for all the resources you’ll have access to when you join).
Our Association is a community. It’s a community of Dance Studio Owners who have seen what I’ve not only produced with my own studio but my Studio Owner clients and members over 7 years. They’ve seen the results and they want to be a part of the action!
We’re also a tribe of people who like to have fun. We’re a very interactive and supportive bunch that will celebrate your wins and help you push through the challenges that arise from taking your studio to new levels.
Don’t spend another night lying in bed awake wondering how you’ll ever take your studio to the next level. Wondering when you’ll finally feel like you “made it.” If you’ll ever be taken seriously… not only in the industry but by friends, family, and the community.
We give you the missing pieces to your business jigsaw puzzle.
Never before have I shared the level of information that you’ll receive inside of the Association. It’s not available in an information product or a one-day live event. In fact, it’s not available outside of our Association. This is the only place you’ll find how to information related to running a successful dance studio and when you join the Association today, it will be available to you.
I’ve been greatly inspired by the creative marketing strategies, business streamlining ideas, community of owners uniting together and Clint’s enthusiasm for helping others achieve their goals.
Our Association is a monthly membership program. Each and every month you’ll receive:
I love the group because I feel like I have a team now. It’s great to have a group of people that understand the challenges Dance Studio Owners face in a unique business environment. I also have so many ideas of what I want to do to build my studio – and the group is helping me map that out, along with a wealth of other information.”
When you join the Association today, you’ll also receive access to past month’s Q&A coaching calls PLUS you’ll gain instant access to business mastery video trainings including:
LIMITED TIME BONUS!
When you commit to making a shift in your business today and join the Association you’ll receive the video recordings from my live event Dance Studio Make Over LIVE.
This revolutionary event is worth the cost of the program alone. The 6+ hours of content include:
We love the fact that we have found a community that will help us to go to the next level both with our business and personal development.
I’m not going to pretend this is your only option. There are many other ways to grow your business. But, I truly believe (and members have told me) that this is the very BEST option out there.
Of course this is probably what you’re doing already. You’re grinding through the day-to-day and figuring out what works best. You don’t have to do this! There are so many people out there who can save you pain, time, and yes, even money by sharing what they already know.
You could pour through business books and teach yourself just about everything you need to know. But which ones are worth your time? And what if you have a unique question? Where do you find the answer? I’m not saying that reading isn’t valuable… because it is, immensely. Inside Dance Studio Owner Association, I’ll occasionally recommend my must-reads. But it’s not enough.
You could end up going from one thing to another with information that isn’t designed to be applied to a dance studio. Or you end up with pieces of information and it’s up to you to put them together and make the strategies work.
There are FREE Dance Studio Owner groups out there. I’ve been a member of them. Because they are free, these owners are less committed to growing their business and more likely to be looking for a place to vent their frustrations. How many more stories about dance parents can we read?
Venting may be fun (hey, we all do it), but this is not that group. Dance Studio Owner Association is an uplifting and educational environment where the members in the Association solve problems, share business growth ideas and support each other.
Consider this: If a problem arises quickly in your business, who do you reach out to or contact for a solid and proven solution? Joining an Association like DSOA gives you instant access to over 300+ Dance Studio Owners, some of whom would have solved your problem before. You often get an answer in minutes, not days, without the private coaching price tag.
Join the Dance Studio Owners Association today and get access to my 13 years of experience in business and the experience and knowledge of our business experts. Plus, let’s not forget that you will have access to other Dance Studio Owner members from around the world that will help you save the time and money trying to figure it out alone.
If for any reason you’re not gaining massive value from being a part of the Dance Studio Owner’s Association, just email us and cancel at any time with no questions asked. I believe so strongly in this community and what you’ll receive from joining our tribe that I’m not going to lock you in for 6 or 12 months.
The group is full of fresh ideas and new friends to share in my profession. I think no one fully understands a Dance Studio Owner unless you are or have been one :).
I know, I know – by now you’re loving what you’re hearing but you’re waiting for the “cost” shoe to drop. Read on! I think you’ll be amazed at what you’re about to learn!
The Dance Studio Owners Association has taught Studio Owners from across the globe how to create 6 and 7 figure studios while transforming their lives and the lives of their students, staff and dance families. My current private clients are paying me $12,000 annually for my support and guidance. But…I’m not offering this for $12,000, or even $6,000 not event $100 per month.
I’m offering this for a small, monthly payment of just $47 and, as I said before, there are no contracts and no long term obligations.
However, if you choose to do so you can take advantage of the annual option. Simply pay for 12 months up front for just $399 and it brings the monthly payment down to less than $34 per month.
I love that it’s not just about the concepts. Clint gives you the tools and technology to put the concepts into action.
It’s so simple! You can sign up as an Association member today by clicking the button below. Straight away you will receive access to the past member Q&A calls, business mastery video trainings plus for today only the video recordings from my live event Dance Studio Make Over LIVE.
